This is the Professional Association of Teachers and Students with Specific Learning Difficulties. This provides advice, organises events, supplies practising certificates, maintains a tutor register and offers the opportunity for cost effective insurance.Harrow PATOSS is a local branch of National PATOSS. We are the largest local PATOSS branch.

We are a friendly group whose members are teachers and teaching assistants, speech and language therapists and others who have either a professional qualification or an interest in SPLD.
We run seminars and workshops to keep you informed of up-to-date teaching, supporting and assessing strategies and information on effective resources.

ASSESSORS GROUPS AND ASSESSMENT RESOURCE BANKS
We have recently set up an online Assessors Group which is proving to be very valuable for our members. If you are a member who is interested in joining, please email Margaret on pereiramc@icloud.com and we will add you to the register.
BORROWING MATERIALS
As a member of Harrow PATOSS, for a small fee, you can borrow specialist materials including a bank of resources of current tests for assessing and teaching materials. For further details please contact Sonia.
HELPLINE AND TUTOR REGISTER
We run a voluntary helpline. Educational institutions and parents can contact us to find teachers and assessors and to seek advice.
Our tutors' register which provides an up-to-date list of local teachers who have an SPLD qualification: their qualifications special professional interests and preferred age range. We also have a list of assessors for access arrangements/DSA. This is in addition to the national list, available at www. patoss-dyslexia.org and is recommended by the British Dyslexia Association. Suitably qualified members are welcome to join the register.
Due to the increasing demand for tuition, we urgently require more dyslexia tutors (primary and secondary) to join the tutor register.
